A clearer build budget
Fixed price vs hourly software development
A fixed price offers a known cost for known work. Hourly billing can suit investigation or a changing roadmap. Neither replaces a clear agreement about what will be delivered and how changes are handled.
Fixed price works best when the first version is defined
List the users, workflows and acceptance criteria before attaching a price. A useful scope explains both what is included and what is deferred. Otherwise two people can agree on the same headline while imagining different products.
Ask how change requests are priced, who approves them and whether outside approvals affect the start date. A fixed-price first version is not an unlimited feature subscription.
Hourly work can suit discovery and changing requirements
When the job is diagnosing an unfamiliar system, researching a difficult integration or adjusting priorities frequently, time-based work can provide useful flexibility. Ask for estimates, reporting, budget caps and approval points.
Compare a proposed total, not only an hourly rate. A lower rate with more work required may cost more overall; a higher rate is not evidence of better outcomes. Request demonstrations and written progress against your goals.
- Known first workflow: consider a scoped fixed-price engagement.
- Unknown technical problem: consider a capped investigation before quoting a build.
- Continuing product work: agree a review rhythm and spending limit.
Where Paramount Profits fits
We help shape and build a focused custom web app, not a native mobile app or an entire enterprise platform. Start with our free software questions, then complete the idea questionnaire for a personal plan. The plan helps you understand the first version before deciding whether to buy.
The upfront option is $9,997 USD for the agreed 14-day build, starting at kickoff once scope and required access are ready. It includes a sales page, $500 of Facebook ad spend, app-use training, 12 months of standard hosting and 30 days of fixes. Upfront buyers also receive six private one-hour consultations, every two weeks for three months.
Alternatively, pay $5,500 today and $5,500 on day 30 ($11,000 total), with delivery after the final payment clears around day 30; or $3,700 today, on day 30 and on day 60 ($11,100 total), with delivery after the final payment clears around day 60. Client delays can shift delivery. Third-party usage, later features and mobile conversion are separate costs.
Compare the decision, not just the headline price
Budget visibility
Fixed price
Known price for the written scope; approved extras are separate.
Hourly / time-based
Final cost depends on time used; caps and reporting help manage it.
Flexibility
Fixed price
Changes normally need a new agreement on cost and timing.
Hourly / time-based
Priorities can change, but the time spent still needs oversight.
Payment schedule
Fixed price
May be upfront or staged. Compare the total and delivery conditions.
Hourly / time-based
May be billed periodically or by milestone. Agree approvals and invoicing.
Common questions
Do I have to buy to get a personal software plan?
No. Complete the free software questions and the idea questionnaire for your personalised plan. A paid build is a separate decision.
Does the 14-day offer include a native mobile app?
No. It covers an agreed-scope web app that can be used in a phone browser. Native mobile conversion is a separately quoted later phase.
What should I check before choosing a builder?
Ask for a written scope, acceptance criteria, full payment schedule, code and account ownership, third-party costs, testing responsibilities and a usable handover. Read the agreement before paying.
